Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Art Exhibit and Reception

 

Dia de los Muertos is an annual holiday celebrating, honoring, and remembering family and friends who have died. Traditionally, it is a three-day festival with creations of alters, offerings of flowers, sugar skulls, and a variety of other traditional foods and decorations.

 

We are calling for two-dimensional works of art which reflect, honor and rejoices in the Dia de los Muertos theme and culture.

 

Location:  Guadalupe Brewery

Date:          Reception-Saturday November 2nd 3-5 pm

 

Exhibit

Dates:        November 2nd to TBD

 

 

Deadline for submissions:    October 14, 2019 by 5pm PDT

 

Accepted art is based on a juried in process.

 

Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by Wednesday October 16th by 5pm PDT

 

ENTRY SPECIFICATIONS

 

No application fee but 20% of sales will go to the location where your artwork is hanging.

 

Size limit:  18x20 inches max (including frame)

 

For consideration, up to 5 entries per artist

 

All artists must have a professional presence on social media: on at least two of the following:

Website

Instagram

Professional FaceBook Artist Page

LinkedIN

Twitter

 

Upon acceptance we ask that each artist promote the reception date and the exhibit throughout the exhibit dates via their social media platforms.

 

Please submit clear images of the artwork. Please title each submission as follows:

ArtistLastName_Title.jpg

 

For each entry include title, media, size and price.

 

Be sure to include all of the following in your application:  Artist Name, address, phone, email, website and/or social media link

 

Accepted images may be used for publicity so please make sure the jpeg images look professional. 

 

150 word maximum artist statement, related to the specific artworks

 

Installation dates:  TBA. Between October 20 through to October 28

 

Please be sure you will be available during the above-mentioned dates.

 

All artwork must be gallery-professional presented and ready to hang – no saw tooth hangers please. All artists are responsible for their own labeling of artwork.  All sales must be managed by the artist directly, so it is important you have your contact information clearly stated on your labels.


Artists must be willing to have their artwork filmed or included in any press releases, articles, or other publications as seen fit by the show curators. The curators and restaurant owners at their respective locations are not responsible in any way for the financial, legal, material, physical, mental liability of any artist, participant, visitor or viewer to this event. It is the responsibility of each artist to insure their own work. By submitting your work you agree to these terms.
